The Governess Room
The Governess’ Luxurious Accommodation Was Suited To Her Esteemed Position
The Governess was an integral part of the household in Victorian times. Often of high birth, the governess was responsible for the proper schooling of the next generation of landowners.
The Governesses Room boasts antique furniture in dark woods with marble bedside tables creating a luxurious atmosphere in which to enjoy the favourite pastime of a noble governess; reading. If you wish to keep with this tradition a selection of Irish literature from writers such as Yeats, Joyce and ancient Irish legends and myths are on offer in the castle library.
