The School Room
In Times Of Old, The Noble Young Lords And Ladies Attended To Their Education In This Very Room
Located on the mezzanine level just below the Governess’ private rooms offering plenty of fresh Irish air and views of the surrounding countryside.
Original remnants of the children’s schooling were found during the restoration of the castle, an interesting ink well and original school stools are displayed throughout the castle. In the neighbouring Church of Ireland chapel, an original stool from Lisheen Castle survives from several hundred years ago is still in use on the altar. Intricate carvings on this stool give an idea of the luxury enjoyed by the noble children of Lisheen while they learned their lessons.
The School Room is now a beautiful addition to the castle accommodation. The room is home to antique furniture and enjoys a lovely view over the courtyard and the Devil’s bit mountain in the distance.
